It's a Bombardier all right.  That basic shape goes back furhter than 1952 though, I remember seeing them listed as tried out in WW2.    I'd never use the term Snowcat as it is often confused with the Tucker Sno-Cat, owner of the trademark.

The other, less famous supplier around that time was Farand and Delorme ( spelling? ) who made the tracked, armoured, amphibious Snowmobile.  Post-WW2 a bunch of those Snowmobiles were turned into Penguins, and a friend of mine has an ambulance version;
