Unlike yesterday's, which no one has yet, someone will probably recognize this.

Yes, this is a Rainier, a 1913 R-11 model that was displayed at the Huntsville show. At the time this truck belonged to James McNamara. According to Mroz Rainier trucks were built from 1903 to 1911 in Flushing New York, when they were acquired by General Motors after bankruptcy in 1909. John Rainier began producing commercial vehicles under his name again in New York City in 1916, and production continued until 1927. If this truck is a 1913 the owner knows something that Mroz doesn't, which is entirely possible as the lineage of these old vehicles is sometimes pretty murky. Stretch had this 1st; these photos are from my collection.

Daryl, the FWD is a 1917 Model B and belongs to Don Chew. It is absolutely immaculate.

I took the year of this truck from the owners photo in my files never looking it up, this is all I can find on them,

Another independent manufacturer purchased by GM was Reliance Motor Car Company. Rapid and Reliance were merged in 1911, and in 1912 the marque "GMC Truck" was first shown at the New York International Auto Show. Some 22,000 trucks were produced that year, though GMC's contribution to that total was a mere 372 units. In GM's early decades, the initialism "GMC" was simply an abbreviation of "General Motors Corporation", and had some currency within GM referring to the corporate parent in general. Later "GMC" would become distinct as a division brand within the corporation, branding trucks and coaches; in contrast, the abbreviation for the overall corporation eventually ended up as "GM".

anyone else has anything on them please let us know.

Bill
