the real power pulling the parking brake handle after the air brake pressure went out going down a steep haul road!

I remember seeing pictures and a story about that big Los Angeles truck, can't remember the name...

Give it to Don MacKenzie. This truck is a Maxi, manufactured by Six Wheels Inc. of Los Angeles. Six Wheels was best known for their Maxi 6 wheeler conversions for trucks built by other manufacturers. But from 1940 to 1942 Six Wheels built their own six wheel trucks, mostly the tractor in the Midland Brakes ad but also some off highway dump trucks. The tractors were powered by a 225 hp Waukesha-Hesselman engine, with a Fuller clutch and transmission and Six Wheels own chain drive rear tandem. Six Wheels was also known to have assembled some off highway Hug trucks with this same chain drive tandem. The Maxi conversion pages below are from a 1938 brochure.

It's hard to imagine that a truck this massive was capable of 70 mph in 1942, especially with other trucks of this size able to do only 20-30 mph. . Methinks the publicity department was exaggerating just a little.
