Yup, John Frances does have it, this is a 1917 Maccar with a Mueller demountable power unit. These units must have served Maccar well as they were still advertising them in 1921. One of the founders of Maccar was Jack Mack, one of the 5 Mack brothers who started Mack Trucks. Thanks to Bill White for these 1917 & 1921 Maccar ads.

I find it interesting how the Truck Manufacturers keep reinventing and repackaging earlier ideas.

Maccar with their demountaable power unit in 1917, Freightliner with the Quick Engine Exchange in about 1962.
