If that Blackstone is Blackstone, VA, it borders the army post Camp Pickett so I'm not surprised they'd use army surplus vehicles. Incidentally their fire department was formed in 1901 so it's been around a while.

We've got a couple of good detectives here ! This fire truck is indeed a 1929 McCann Model 50L. It is from the Blackstone Fire Department, which I would expect is in Blackstone, Maine. Don MacKenzie has this 1st. Thanks to Bill White for the photos.
