This scout car is partially obscured by some brush, but the one behind it is exactly the same. Photo from the Life Magazine Collection.

Don MacKenzie has this one 1st, this is a 1937 Marmon Herrington Ford T13 4x4 scout car. These scout cars were built about the same time that White/Indiana was refining what would eventually become the standard US Army armored scout car, the White M3A1 introduced in 1939. The key to id'ing the M-H is the fenders, both the front and rear fenders are standard Ford pickup truck issue. This photo is from the Life Magazine Collection and wass taken in Missisippi in 1938. The other entry below is from Fred Crismon's "U.S. Military Wheeled Vehicles".
