Hey all,

It's been a minute since I've removed and replaced a trans in a W900a (23 yrs of the military). I just purchased an '81 W900A dump truck that I'm positive that the trans isn't set up correctly. The "buggy spring" mount on the top/back of the trans is below the frame rail. My question is that I can't remember if the spring just sits on top of the frame rails or is there a bracket that holds the ends. Needless to say, what little this truck was driven after this trans was installed has ruined the hanger bearing.

Any help is appreciated. If anyone has a picture or parts diagram showing any additional springs on the bolts, plates, etc, that would be great.

Never in my 47 yr's in the buisiness did I ever seen those spring sit directly on a frame rail. They all sat on OEM brackets.

Can you provide any more info on the frame brackets or have any pictures? This is what I'm trying to figure out. Or if someone has a day cab truck or one their restoring that they can easily take some pictures of the frame brackets, that would help out.

Thanks,

This top rail spring mount is on my K125. It has an outer surround which the spring steel sits on top of, on the top of the chassis rails. Forward it has the normal bellhousing modal mounts.
